Hello! Just wanted to share that I was featured today on Girls Entertainment Network's "Geek Craft" section found here:

http://gen-online.com/video-games/geek-craft-freaky-fleece/

Their site is dedicated to geeks and girls...a potent combination!

My other big feature that I'm really proud of was just before the holidays when MaximumPC.com included my disk pillows in their Geek Gift Guide video found here:

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/home/geek_gift_roundup_plushie_toys

That one was extra cool cuz my stuff was featured alongside stuff from ThinkGeek. Smile

Its been an insane month and a half:

I have showed up two separate times on fanbase / memebase:
~forum wouldn't let me post the link~ ... its pretty easy to find. Ah well.

Tokyopop featured me on their Facebook page and twitter feed (can't find the link). That was nuts... like 1200 uniques in 15 minutes worth of nuts.

My most featured item (a tote that said "Nerdy boys are cute" and had a pair of glasses) was on the front page of Etsy for two full cycles (hour and a half)... and STILL didn't sell. That was also pretty nuts.

~As a side note, my wife is a walking / talking billboard for CustomComix... she wears those Rogue earrings everywhere and tells anyone who will listen about the super-secret underground "Holly" phenomenon. ~

Wow, I don't think my items will ever hit front page, reallyyyyyy lame that your item didn't sell though. I thought anything that hit front page would be sold 50 times over.

And thankkssss! Tell your wife SHE ROCKS!!! Smile afro

Actually, the Etsy front page is not all its cracked up to be. Unless you sell grey dresses or use a distressed wood background, the stuff just tends to get a lot of hits and not much else. In my case I took some heat because I was using "names I didn't own to extend my brand" aka Dr. Who and Naruto. Even a few "I'm gonna report you!" convos as well. I wouldn't wish the Etsy-fairness-police-no-such-thing-as-fan-art brigade on my worst enemy Smile

On the other hand, memebase and tokyopop provided so much work that I basically printed tote bags till me wrists hosed out.

Ugh yeah, that argument gets really old.

I have heard every possible thing about fan art, copywrite, trademark yadda yadda to the moon and back.

One of my associated brought up the fact that our mascot Melvin isn't technically OURS and that jail time and fees could result in using that picture. It all sounds really scary.. Until you think of a prison filled with Nyan Cat scarf knitters..

But seriously, using comic book pages in my pieces generates a LOT of heat too. I think what Debra ( Yumeleona23) had said in the past was pretty much spot on. A lot of geeky crafters don't see the front page because Etsy is trying to protect us from all of that being reported, hate mail and all.

Grey areas are no fun, and if someone has a problem with it, a cease and desist letter is soon to follow. All we can do is hope we don't see that. ( Especially me since I have 700 blank bracelets calling my name Wink ) affraid

I don't wanted to get started on all that (possibly) copyright-infringing stuff and all the haters on Etsy, because I feel just like you guys.
Instead, here are the places I've been featured!

*Issue 053 of Playstation Magazine in their gift guide (For my Nuka-Cola necklaces)
*Electronic Gaming Monthly's online magazine, issue 243.4 (For my Nuka-Cola keychains)
*In-Game on MSNBC.com (For my clay game controller charms)
*Kotaku (For my Nuka-Cola jewelry)
Also, right after Fallout New Vegas came out, a customer posted a pic of my items on Reddit and everyone went crazy and bought me out of Nuka stuff within minutes. I was sending out 13 packages a day for a month.
I've had other features here and there but the Playstation mag is my favorite. Smile I've also been on the Front Page of Etsy twice, and didn't sell a damn thing either time...
